WHOLE HORSE PROTOCOL COURSE - LEVEL 2

Level 2 - Intermediate. 5 days covering detailed hoof bio-mechanics, saddle fitting, live trimming, learning about gait and balance and how they affect the hoof, environment, parasite and chemical affects, further nutrition studies and natural remedies for many common situations.  Some pathology causes and solutions are explained.  6 to 8 hours a day.

A local saddle fitting expert guests on the day we cover saddle fit.

Designed to start you on the road to professional trimming or for owners who want more knowledge to care for their equine friend, this course is very informative and really begins to introduce the concept of the whole horse protocol.

This course is often organised to coincide with additional one or two day equine massage therapy courses with a qualified therapist from the UK. A very useful complimentary course to barefoot horse husbandry.

Owners are welcome to bring their own horse for an additional cost (depending weather it is stabled or turned out).

Next Level 2 - 5 day course - Week beginning Wednesday March 14th 2018, Reservations now being taken

Remember we take a maximum of only 10 students at a time, to assure full attention, so book early. Check out the relevant page for full details.

ALL these courses can be taken along with a 2 day Equine Massage Therapy course, but we must be assured a "full house" as the Professional Instructor comes from England to hold these courses for us.  The EMT course is an extremely useful stand-alone tool, from which every horse in every discipline will benefit.

Next EMT course scheduled for 2018 - We are searching for a new instructor to hold these courses
.  Sadly our previous one has taken a new direction with their business and no longer instructs EMT.
The cost of this very complete course, including all materials, is 550€.  A minimum of 6 people and maximum of 10 are taken on each course. Everyone is guaranteed individual attention.

Course can be worked over 3 weekends should sufficient people apply for this option, to coincide with work schedules.

Each person is required to bring their own trimming equipment. Or we can organise a ´Trimmers Pack´ of Apron, 2 Rasps, Left & Right Handed Knives & Sharpener  for collection upon arrival at a pre-paid price of 275€

Lodgings available in our beautiful converted stables providing 2, double-bedded self-catering cottages. (We offer great discounted rates for clients participating on our courses)  There is a hotel and hostel in the village, 2 km´s away, or many more hotels on the coast, 12 km´s away. We will do everything we can to help organise your accommodation. For those happy to rough it a little you can camp next to our arena (under the willow trees), though there are only cold water washing facilities (no shower, but a fresh river!) and no cooking facilities, though a morning cuppa can be organised. Your tent and gear = 50€ for the duration. Our tent and inflatable mattress and bedding = 100€ for the duration. For more details contact us

Before commencing the Level 3 practical and theory course the following two, home study, courses must be completed.

Equine Nutrition - At home/distance study. Approx. 30 hours

Lower Leg Anatomy - At home/distance study. Approx. 20 hours

They are also available to Level 2 students who do not wish to continue to a professional level but wish to benefit from a more complete knowledge of nutrition and/or anatomy

Total cost only 60€

Completion of Level 2 to a minimum required standard entitles you to be recognised as a Whole Horse Protocol Intermediate level trimmer.  "WHP Intermediate" You can trim your own horses and those of friends, with their consent, as practice, not charging for your services.  You are not prepared to deal with any serious pathologies.
